Long before he broke baseball’s color barrier in the majors and took the world by storm, Jackie Robinson took the field for the UCLA Bruins. The year was 1940, and Robinson had already showed off his athletic prowess starring as a running back on UCLA’s undefeated football team, as the long jumper on the track and field team, and as a guard with the basketball squad. The irony nearly a century later is that baseball was Jackie’s worst sport at the college level.
