“I will never wear any other uniform than a Pittsburgh uniform.”
“The Great One” never did.
Roberto Clemente arrived in Pittsburgh as a 20-year-old kid from Puerto Rico in 1955, and he went on to play in the Steel City for 18 seasons. In that time, he amassed exactly 3,000 hits, the first ever Latino player to ever hit the milestone. He batted a whopping .317, with 1,305 RBIs. A sensation at the bat, yet also a phenom in the field, too. As a 12-time Gold Glove winner who was awarded the World Series MVP in 1971, he had a cannon for an arm, daring runners to extend for extra bases.
In the end, #21 is forever.
As part of the ROF x MLB partnership, we have a classic Pittsburgh Pirates quarter-zip, throwing back to the great Roberto Clemente!
