“The army teaches boys to think like men.”
It was March 24, 1958. That’s the date that Elvis Presley, the “King of Rock & Roll,” reported to boot camp in the U.S. Army. He showed up to Fort Chaffee in Arkansas with a contingency of reporters fit for a president. From there he served as a member of two separate armed battalions, first at Fort Hood in Texas, and immediately after in Germany, with the 1st Medium Tank Battalion, 33d Armor. The most famous private to ever serve, but duty bound by honor.
That was the King.
Officially licensed by Elvis Presley.
