When you zero in on 140 years of University of California’s football tradition, one name stands out. “Beastmode.” The nickname given to Marshawn Lynch, who was a Golden Bear circa 2004-2006.

The bruising back that wouldn’t go down without a fight. The dictator of wills who punished defenders like it was personal. And it was. As a native of North Oakland who stayed close to home for college, Lynch left it all on the field. He towered over the Golden Bears football program like the Campanile towers over the campus. He helped continue the Saturday standard at California Memorial Stadium!
