We celebrate the ground breakers, the difference makers, and those whose struggle for greatness is the unending fight at the root of every human triumph. We celebrate the Culture of Greatness that reaches far beyond the field of play. At Roots of Fight we are proud to share the stories of these Icons who became revolutionaries. Each created and defined their own version of greatness. They transcended sport and art to shape popular culture on a global scale. Their contributions are still resonating decades later with new meaning, touching and inspiring people and change for generations. We exist to keep their spirit alive, passing the torch from generation to generation and evangelizing inspiration all over the world.

1920 - 100 years ago, a group of 8 black baseball owners came together to forge a future for their community. From this meeting came the birth of the National Negro League - the first successful, organized professional Black Baseball League. Their passion for the game was boundless and they were not going to wait for change to come.
