The roots of Roberto Clemente were deeply connected to his native Puerto Rico, where his baseball journey began. Prior to reaching major league glory in Pittsburgh, Clemente made his mark with the winter league team Cangrejeros de Santurce. He was a groundbreaker for Latin Americans in 1960, when he became the first Latin American player to be a starter for a World Series-winning team. That season he made the first of 15 All-Star appearances in a Pirates career of exactly 3,000 hits that sent him to the Hall of Fame. Legend.
