“People in Japan and China and Australia and France and England, everybody knew Jim Thorpe. He was probably the best-known athlete in the world.” – Author ,David Maraniss.
Wa-Tho-Huk. It means “Bright Path,” and it was the name given to Jim Thorpe, the best, most exhilarating athlete of the 20th century. The sun broke over Thorpe’s path forever exactly 110 years after winning double gold in Sweden in 1912, as he was given his due and his medals were reinstated after initially being stripped of them for competing as a pro-athlete. Many generations later, athletes all over the world — of any race, color or creed — travel along the path that Thorpe paved.
We’re honoring the great Jim Thorpe with our 1912 sweater, paying homage to a native American hero.
