Nobody made the most of his chance more than Jesse Owens, known affectionately at Ohio State as the “Buckeye Bullet.”

Winning eight individual championships in track and field in Columbus was a record he held for 70 years, but what he did in Berlin in 1936 was a thing of legend. It was there that Owens, a black man, took home a record four gold medals in the heart of Nazi Germany, dispelling any foolish notions of Aryan superiority.
