“He was a hitter, one of the greatest you ever saw. The most powerful. Never swung hard at the ball, either. Just a short swing. Never swung all the way around. He hit them straight. Lines drives, but they kept going.” –Cool Papa Bell, on the great Josh Gibson
They called him the Black Babe Ruth, and for those who were lucky enough to see Josh Gibson play, that might’ve been an understatement. He was the best catcher of the Negro Leagues, and the most ferocious hitter of his era — over 800 home runs in the span of 17 years. Legend has it he hit a 600-foot homer in Belmar, New Jersey in 1936, while playing for the Homestead Grays, and it’s documented he blasted a 538-foot shot at Tin Plate Field in 1938. Imagine if they measured them all?

GREATEST homerun hitter ANY LEAGUE. Love the shirt. Please make more with images of Josh. And please add more Negro League heroes like Rube Foster, Oscar Charelston, Smokey Joe Williams...etc...so many great players the recordbooks pre 1947 would be so different.
