With his circus strongman looks, his cherished keffiyeh on his head, and curly-toed boots, the Sheik defined villainy for a generation of fans — especially when he squared off with Hulk Hogan at Madison Square Garden in January of that year. The terror from Tehran kickstarted Hulkamania by becoming the greatest heel of the 1980s.
